WATKINS GLEN — Residents, scientists, and business owners from across the region rallied outside the Schuyler County Courthouse before the regularly scheduled Legislature meeting the night of Jan. 12. They decried the bid to site a small nuclear reactor at the old Camp Monterey location as one that would be too expensive, questioned the purpose for construction, and shared concerns about the risks to public health and how a nuclear reactor would be compatible with the county’s existing wine and tourism economy.
